Our Process
What happens when your home or business is damaged by fire, flood, earthquake, or vandalism?
Property owners need to know what to do in the event of unforeseen catastrophic events such as these. Planning and forethought can help you minimize the damage to your property—and consequently, the cost of repair—and get the ball rolling so you can get your property restored to its original condition as soon as possible!
Cal-Best’s tips on what to do in the event of damage to your residential or commercial property:
Step 1. Is everyone okay?
First and foremost, ensure all people and pets are safe and unharmed. Call the appropriate emergency responders if necessary (fire department, ambulance, etc.). Move your family and pets a safe distance from the damage.
Step 2. Call your insurance company.
The next step is to call your insurance company to report that you have a claim. After you’ve answered some questions, the insurance company will likely offer to send a contractor out to assess the damage and provide a quote for restoration services. As the property owner, you have the right to hire your own contractor—you are not obligated to use the insurance company’s recommendation.
Step 3. Call the experts at Cal-Best Construction!
Call us at 714.630.1180 anytime—day or night—and we will respond right away. We will be on the scene to assess the damage, answer your questions, and provide a bid for restoration. In addition to being there to get your property restored to its original condition so you can get your life back, it is also our primary aim to be a source of support to you and your family during this stressful and overwhelming time.
Step 4. We take the reins.
We will act as YOUR advocate and representative when the insurance adjuster gets involved, which should be within a day or two after you have made your claim. And when you work with the Cal-Best team, we will happily handle the insurance maze altogether, so you can focus on what’s most important—taking care of your most precious assets: you and your family or business.
We will use the insurance industry-approved estimating program Xactimate to produce a professional estimate, and we will work with the insurance company (as your representative) to come to an agreement to a scope of repairs. This includes what can be saved/salvaged, what needs cleaned, what needs repaired, a time frame, etc.—basically the entire job on our end.
Step 5: We get to work!
Once we start your project, we don’t stop until it is complete. We subcontract 100% of the work, enabling us to provide high quality workmanship at a lower cost. But don’t worry, we use only fully licensed and insured subcontractors with whom we have developed long-standing relationships based on trustworthiness and dependability.
We manage and oversee the job from start to finish, remaining accessible to you for questions, concerns, and status updates. With Cal-Best you will feel informed, respected, and attended to every step of the way! We guarantee our work as per the Contractors State Licensing Board, so if anything is unsatisfactory, it will be corrected right away.
